Mini DIY Project: love bird ornament

I created this little birdie awhile back to display with some of my wedding photographs and I recently thought how it would make a great "First Christmas Together" ornament for a couple. It is very easy to make and would look really pretty tied onto a wedding gift!

    Here is the scoop:
    1. Chip board shape (purchased in a pack from Micheals)

    2. sterling glitter (martha stewart @ micheals)

    3. glitter glue (not pictured because quite frankly mine looks ugly)

    4. millinery flowers

    5. ribbon

    6. paper tag (miscellaneous tags/or create your own with card stock + printer)

Start by spreading glue evenly over one side of the chip board cut out. Glitter glue should come with a brush tool for easy application. Smother with glitter, shake off excess, and let dry. Repeat with the other side and edges. Next, use your creativity to embellish your ornament. I cut out the word "I Do" and backed it with a ribbon banner (made by folding a piece of ribbon in half and cutting end at an angle) I then added a crown of millinery flowers to the birds head. To turn it into an ornament you may either drill a hole to the original wood cut out (before glittering) OR simply hot glue a loop to the back of the ornament.
    Enjoy!

New to LBB: Frosted Wine Stopper

We added this wine stopper favor to the shop over the weekend
I love the idea of a wine stopper favor but most of the mass produced ones on the wedding sites are poor quality and predictable
We paired a high quality stopper with beautiful velvet millinery grapes and foliage, added a dainty tag, and voila!
It is available on it's own or packaged in a box with the foliage on the outside. Click here to purchase.

    a.m.a.z.i.n.g

sooo......I just saw the most amazing thing this morning on great full day. we already discussed beautiful vintage books earlier this week......
but these are no ordinary books...........

surprise! they are hollowed out to create the most extraordinary invite ever designed by photographer jessica claire for her upcoming wedding! each book was carefully picked and purchased from old bookstores and hollowed out by hand

the inside left side features a copper "library card" paper pocket to house details such as map, response card and wedding itinerary. the invite is nestled in the hollowed out portion of the right side held secure with a grey grosgrain ribbon sealed on the side with a copper wax seal with a lock picture. (second image above)

invitations were letter pressed, burned around the edges and feature vintage buttons purchased on ebay.
the final product was wrapped in brown paper and mailed lovingly to the guests of the bride and groom! this is truly a unique and inspiring project! kuddos to jessica and her team of helpers for hands down the best invite i have seen!!

    Today I love: Birch Details

Lately I have been really loving the use of birch and twig details in weddings. It creates such a subtle rustic look while still keeping things soft and romantic. I love how real wedding Nadia and Charles used them to elevate votives and floral arrangements.

Here are some terrific ways to incorporate this look into you wedding:

    muscari ring cushion

    little retreat birch vase

    bundle of twig pencils

    Enjoy!

    Classic Beauties

I am so excited because I just pre-ordered some of these penguin classic hardcover books. This 10 piece books series features some of my favorite titles with new pretty hard covers designed by coralie bickford-smith. I have been looking for some old beautiful books to display and while not old, these totally fit the bill. Each book has a beautiful matte foil design and will look so pretty on my book shelf, dresser or wherever I decide to put them! Click here if you want to be lucky like me!

    A Vintage Inspired Place Card

We just added this new seating card to the shop. I love the colors......probably in part because they were my wedding colors! The deep purple velvet flower picks up on the specks of purple in the gold key and looks really lovely to me :-) (And check out my awesome chair it is photographed on. I got it from a local antique shop. I bargained and only paid 30.00! And the seat is not woven wicker, it is leather. SweeeT!

    Hooray!

Celebration Time! It is officially one year that Little Birdie Boutique opened it's virtual shop doors on etsy!
So much has happened for us in this first year. We have 77 sales and tons of amazing feedback. I have loved working with our etsy clients and find it so rewarding to be a part of their wedding in my own little way. It hasn't been easy as my mom and I have lived in different states for the last 8 months! We have spent countless hours on the phone going over ideas, emailing pics back and forth and mailing supplies to one another! We have made it work, and hope to have continuing success in this next year :-) Thank you etsy for existing and being so supportive to independent designers!!!

We are going to be posting new items this week and next so make sure to check the shop!

    Smokey Purple and Grey

Oh Anthropologie, I miss you dear friend.......

Ever since I moved to Fort Smith I have had serious Anthroplogie withdrawal. In Houston we had not 1, but 2 stores! I loved shopping the sale room for steals (you definitely don't get the same deals online).

I picked these pretty items in shades of smokey purple and grey because they all would match my bedroom and are perfect for fall. Can't wait till Thanksgiving when I can see you again!
